- brings light into our dark world.
Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life. John 8:12 (AMP)
- came to take away our sicknesses and pains
But it was our sins that did that to him, that ripped and tore and crushed him--our sins! He took the punishment, and that made us whole. Through his bruises we get healed. Isaiah 53:5 (MSG)
- came to take away our sins

- came to give us wisdom
But God has given you a place in Christ Jesus, through whom God has given us wisdom and righteousness and salvation, and made us holy: 1Cor 1:30 (BBE)
- came to give us a life and a hope
For I am conscious of my thoughts about you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope at the end. Jer 29:11 (BBE)
- came to destroy the works of our enemy the devil
[But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done]. 1John3:8 (AMP)
- and most importantly, came to show us the way to the father
Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me. John 14:6 (AMP)
This is the real reason for the joy of christmas, if your rejoicing is as a result of the activities and festivities associated with christmas season, you got it all wrong.
