- came to take away our sicknesses and pains

- came to give us wisdom

- came to give us a life and a hope
For I am conscious of my thoughts about you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope at the end. Jer 29:11 (BBE)
- came to destroy the works of our enemy the devil

This is the real reason for the joy of christmas, if your rejoicing is as a result of the activities and festivities associated with christmas season, you got it all wrong.
